Tornado dinner
We went down to Kzoo to see the Golden Girls musical last night and got a show from Mother Nature instead!! This wasn’t an official “Michigan Girl” event, but I’d like to point out that it was very “on brand.”
We arrived in town just as torrential rain and lightning started up. (On the drive in, we’d all casually not said a word about the dark night descending upon us at 4pm.)
We found the University Roadhouse, which had no room for parking left, and parked on a side street to “wait it out.” We thought it was just a passing thunderstorm.
Until the tornado siren went off.
We started to sweat in our matching Golden Girls socks. We decided to go for it and run a block to the restaurant because we had noticed it was - quite helpfully - made of brick. As we ran, the sky light up endlessly and the rain poured down. We weren’t as fast at running as I thought we would be, and I feared for our lives.
But then, a cop car stopped in the road next to us. He was shouting something at us!
We were going to be saved! We would go with him! We would live! But as we got closer, he was saying this:
